Why We Never Made Ticker’s App

It's hard to believe it's been five years since we first launched Finology Ticker. Our goal back then was simple: make investing less complicated. We've been listening and evolving ever since, and now, our next big step, Ticker V3, is just around the corner.

But there’s one thing we haven’t done, despite getting requests for it every single day: We haven't launched a mobile app.

We’ve had endless debates about this. From a business perspective, an app would mean more revenue, more traction, and growth in every sense.

On the other hand, it would make us hypocrites.

We tell you not to track stocks daily. We advise you to only buy or sell when absolutely necessary. We believe that thoughtful analysis should be a deliberate, periodic activity, not a nervous, constant habit.

An app encourages the opposite. The easier it is to check, the more you will. You’d spend more time tracking prices and news, and that’s a behaviour we fundamentally believe hurts long-term investors. Having an app isn’t wrong, but the frequency of consumption it encourages is. This is why our platform is designed the way it is.

So, let's be direct. Please don't subscribe to Finology Ticker if you:

  • Need the fastest price updates. Our data is intentionally delayed. We are built for long-term investors, not for high-frequency traders.

  • Believe more features and data are always better. We aren't building a tool to overwhelm you. Our interface is clean and focused on purpose.

  • Want to get lost in analysis. If your goal is to spend hours sifting through every possible metric, we’re not for you.

Our Approach is Different

We understand. The 3 points we mentioned could be essential to your process. And in that case, you might find that other platforms are a better fit for your needs. Many tools are built specifically to serve a more active style of market engagement.

We built Ticker to do a few things exceptionally well:

  • Provide only the necessary data. We do the hard work of giving you the critical information you need to make a sound judgment, and nothing more.

  • Be incredibly easy to use. Investing is complex enough. Your tools shouldn't be. We focus on a simple, intuitive design so you can think clearly.

  • Make your decision-making simpler. This is our ultimate goal. Every feature is designed to help you make better decisions.

Instead of an app, we're doubling down on making our website incredibly mobile-friendly. You don't need another app, and Ticker V3 will deliver a massive leap forward in that experience in the coming months.

We aren't trying to be everything to everyone. We're focused on being the right tool for the thoughtful investor who values clarity and discipline over hyper-reactivity.

If that’s you, then we built Ticker just for you.
